Lion Ascends

"The deliverers will go up on Mount Zion... And the kingdom will be the LORD's."

The Story Behind the Image

This majestic digital painting depicts a powerful lion standing atop a rocky outcrop in the desert of Israel, silhouetted against a brilliant golden sky of orange and yellow. The lion's mane glows in the light of the setting sun, and his gaze is fixed on the horizon—watchful, regal, and ready. This is the Lion of Judah ascending to His rightful place, and this is the prophetic picture of Aliyah—the return, the restoration, and the establishment of God's Kingdom.

The inscription is inspired by Obadiah 1:19-21:

"People from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau, and people from the foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will occupy the fields of Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead. This company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan will possess the land as far as Zarephath; the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the towns of the Negev. Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the LORD's."

This is the promise of restoration, return, and the Kingdom of the Lord established in the land.

The Desert of Israel

The rocky, barren landscape in the image represents the Negev desert and the wilderness of Israel—the land that has been desolate, the land that has been waiting, and the land that is now being reclaimed and restored. The lion stands on the high place, surveying the land that belongs to the Lord.

Obadiah 1:19 declares that "people from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau." This is the prophetic promise of territorial restoration—the land that was lost will be reclaimed, the inheritance that was stolen will be returned, and the people of God will possess what He has promised.

Aliyah: The Ascent

Aliyah (עֲלִיָּה) is the Hebrew word for "ascent" or "going up." It refers to the immigration of Jews to the land of Israel, the return of the exiles to their homeland, and the fulfillment of God's covenant promises to bring His people back to the land.

But Aliyah is more than physical return—it is spiritual ascent, the rising up of God's people to take their place, to walk in their calling, and to establish the Kingdom of the Lord in the earth.

The lion ascending the rocky outcrop is a picture of this truth—the Lion of Judah is rising, the people are returning, and the Kingdom is being established.

Deliverers Will Go Up on Mount Zion

Obadiah 1:21 declares the ultimate promise: "Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the LORD's."

The deliverers are those who have been called, anointed, and positioned by God to bring restoration, establish justice, and govern in His authority. They ascend Mount Zion—the place of God's presence, the seat of His throne, and the center of His Kingdom.

The lion in this image represents both the Lion of Judah and the deliverers who are rising in this hour—those who are ascending to their calling, taking their position, and establishing the Kingdom of the Lord.

The Kingdom Will Be the LORD's

The final declaration of Obadiah is the ultimate promise: "And the kingdom will be the LORD's."

This is not about human kingdoms, political power, or earthly authority. This is about the Kingdom of God being established on earth as it is in heaven. This is about the Lord reigning, the Lord ruling, and the Lord receiving the glory that is due His name.

The golden sky in the image represents the glory of the Lord, the light of His presence, and the dawning of His Kingdom. The lion stands in the light, positioned on the high place, and the Kingdom belongs to the Lord.

A Prophetic Declaration

This image is a prophetic declaration: The Lion is ascending. The deliverers are rising. The exiles are returning. And the Kingdom will be the LORD's.

This is the promise of Aliyah—the return, the restoration, and the establishment of God's purposes in the land and in the earth.
