Hadassah - Before the Crown
Before she was Esther, she was Hadassah. Before the palace, before the crown, before her name was known in royal courts, she was being formed in hiddenness.
The Story Behind the Image
This prophetic artwork depicts a young woman draped in a flowing blue garment, standing behind a veil with her gaze lowered in quiet humility and trust. She is Hadassah—the Jewish orphan girl who would one day become Queen Esther and save her people from destruction. But this is not the moment of her coronation. This is the moment before—the hidden season, the time of preparation, the sacred pause before revelation.
Scripture tells us little about those quiet years, yet it is there—in obscurity, in waiting—that identity took root.
As I created this piece, I was drawn to that sacred pause. The moment before revelation. The inward shaping that happens long before public calling. Hadassah stands not in weakness, but in quiet strength. Her posture is composed, her gaze lowered—not from fear, but from humility and trust.
Hidden seasons are not wasted seasons.
The blue garment she wears represents royalty, favor, and the heavenly calling that is already upon her life—even though she doesn't yet wear the crown. The veil represents the hiddenness, the mystery, and the covering of God over her life during the season of preparation. She is being shaped, refined, and positioned in secret.
The lowered gaze is not a sign of insecurity—it is a sign of surrender. She is not striving, not grasping, not demanding to be seen. She is resting in the process, trusting in God's timing, and allowing Him to form her character before He elevates her calling.
The crown did not create her destiny; it revealed what had already been formed. Faithfulness in the unseen prepared her for influence in the seen. Waiting became preparation. Obscurity became refinement.
This image carries a truth that echoes beyond her story: What God forms in secret, He appoints in the open.
Before the crown comes identity.
Before elevation comes surrender.
And when His appointed time arrives, what was hidden will not remain hidden—it will stand revealed, established, and ready.
