Forever Betrothed
I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.
The Story Behind the Image
This prophetic artwork depicts a Jewish bride on her wedding day at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, holding her bouquet and wearing a delicate crown and veil. The black and white tones create a timeless, sacred quality—as if this moment exists outside of time, in the eternal covenant between God and His people. The image is framed by the attributes of God's character: Righteousness, Justice, Mercy, Lovingkindness, Faithfulness.
The inscription declares Hosea 2:19-20: "I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD."
This is one of the most beautiful covenant promises in all of Scripture. God is speaking to Israel (and to His Bride, the Church) with the language of marriage. He is not just saving us or blessing us—He is betrothing us to Himself forever. This is an eternal, unbreakable covenant of love.
The Western Wall (the Kotel) is one of the most sacred sites in Judaism—a place where heaven and earth meet, where prayers ascend, and where God's presence dwells. For a bride to stand at the Wall on her wedding day is deeply symbolic. She is not just entering into covenant with her earthly husband—she is standing in the presence of God, acknowledging that her marriage is built on the foundation of His eternal covenant.
The attributes surrounding the image reveal the character of the Bridegroom:
Righteousness — He is holy, pure, and just
Justice — He is fair and true
Mercy — He is compassionate and forgiving
Lovingkindness — His covenant love (hesed) never fails
Faithfulness — He keeps His promises forever
The bride is not betrothed because of her own worthiness—she is betrothed because of His righteousness, His love, and His faithfulness. This is the beauty of covenant love: it is not based on performance, but on His unchanging character.
This image is a declaration: You are betrothed to the Lord forever. His love will never fail. His covenant will never be broken.
